On December 19th 2022 the Access Information News website (specifically, the Home page) was updated to include a visual image carousel, also known in web development parlance as an "image slider". Visual image carousels, or image sliders, act like a visual pitch deck, with each image in the carousel representing a single "slide". These images automatically "slide" in and out of view every few seconds, giving visual users the appearance of a flip book.
While these image carousels are minimally accessible, which is to say that the images that they rotate do possess alternative textual information, they are most certainly not intended for non-visual users. But that's okay. Because Access Information News serves a wide variety of blind, low vision, deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, neurodivergent and/or disabled users, and not all of them are completely without sight.
Image carousels are very popular on the web today for their ability to showcase a number of visual elements quickly. In addition to each slide carrying a single image, each slide also includes a short message as well as the ability to click on any slide to get more information. This functionality is what makes image carousels something like a flip-book of visual links.
The new Access Information News image carousel now includes a single slide for each Sponsor. Each of these slides were created by the Editorial Team here at Access Information News. That said, if you are a Sponsor that would like to update your current slide within the new carousel, now or going forward, you can submit a new image at any time. The native image size is 960 pixels wide by 360 pixels high at 72 dpi.
It is our sincerest hope that this new image carousel will give our Sponsors even greater exposure by putting their branding front and center at the very top of the Access Information News home page.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our Sponsors. We couldn't do it without your support.
